Shelby, and the Collector Club Newsletter!

 Nope, I'm definitely not late...

Shelby will be released May 1st at 1:30 EST
Good luck to those who will be trying for one! :)

In the CC Newsletter, we got a sneak peek!

Many collectors are assuming that this is going to be another Birds of a Feather lottery model series (due to the blurb above the image: "A little birdie told us that there's a new Web Special on the way next month.")
But, could be anything, I suppose!

Lastly, Breyer released Premier Club and Vintage Club grab bags a few days ago, but I didn't post about it because they sold out almost immediately! I've heard that people are getting some good stuff in them though.

That about wraps this post up.
Stay tuned for another post in the photography series! :)

This Year's Patriotic Decorator and a Familiar Face

Some exciting reveals, today!

Breyer has been begged to re-release this one after Queen Elizabeth's passing:

Carltonlima Emma is being brought back with a beautiful purple sash!
I hope everyone who wants one is able to get her. :)

On to this 2023's patriotic decorator:

Washington! Oh boy, I don't normally like them, but this guy is stunning! Wonderful mold choice, the color suits him. He'd look fantastic next to Magpie! If I wasn't running out of shelf space, I'd probably be getting this guy!

Beebe Ranch Fundraiser

Breyer is stepping up to the plate to help save Misty's home!

They are auctioning off a test run gold Misty and Stormy set! Donating the proceeds to the Museum of Chincoteague Island that is in charge of the fundraising efforts.
What a beautiful pair, I wish they would make these two into a RR or LE release! So adorable.

If you're like me, and can't afford to bid on the auction, here's a link to donate! I will be donating as well. Let's save this important place of horse history! :)

Update: They sold for $12,875! That is awesome.

Q&A

Leave your questions in the comment section for me to answer in a future post! I'll try to get to every one of them. :)

I'll also be using a generic model horse content creator list of questions, which should give me plenty of stuff to talk about. Excited to see what you guys come up with! 😁

Photography for Photo Showing : Tips and Tricks!

It's been a little while (more than a little, tbh) since I last made a post for this series, so here we go today! This post will be all about how to best position your model when photographing for a show.

This series is what works for me, and what my opinions are as a judge. If you disagree and have a better method, good for you! Please do share. This series is mainly to help beginners, but everyone can take a look and see what they can improve!

The method that has the best outcome (at least for me), is quite simple to understand, yet a little difficult to achieve. Not many of my show photos are even 'perfect' examples for this. But, I have a few. Some people find it easier to do than others, and I'm of the latter group. As long as you can get close, good enough in my book! Especially if you are a beginner. Now, lets get started! :)

I wont be sharing anyone else's photos, as I don't feel comfortable with picking apart someone's work. All of the photos used in this series, are mine!

For most models, I find that keeping their hooves 'level' is key. No, I don't mean rotating the image itself to make it level. A model can be angled too much one way or the other, which can significantly impact how it looks in a photo. This is best shown visually:

What TO do:

Ignore the poor lighting, and the background. One of my foals, Aziz, has his line is very straight, thus, making him proportional, and not distorted.

What NOT to do:

See how the line is slanted? Not ideal. It can make the model look disproportional. I could have rotated Ms Gamma Knife's front end away from me a little, to get the perfect angle. There are more extreme angles that I have seen in shows while judging, but don't have a photograph of mine handy to use as an example of the extreme cases.

Let's look at the lines themselves, without the models.
When it's such minor difference, it doesn't automatically make me place the model on the bottom of the pile while judging. But, when it is more noticeable, they are generally ranked lower (though, other factors come into play, of course).

Ok, here's the fun part. Some models refuse to conform to this rule. They might have more of an action pose (such as turning or having legs going everywhere), which impacts how you go about things. For those guys, You want their side exactly parallel to the camera, no matter how the head is positioned. I see so many people line the head up, instead of the body, which makes it difficult as a judge to look at the conformation of the model.

Hopefully there wont be as long of a pause between this series' future posts as it has been. I've been quite busy judging for various shows!

Well, that about wraps this post up! Thanks for reading. :)

The Celebration Show Is Now Closed For Entries!

Judging is now starting to take place!

I can already tell that the division that I will be working on is gonna be a tough one. It's so hard to pick winners for the fun classes! I'm loving all of these entries.
I've seen some collectors who are brand new to showing enter some of their models, which is very exciting- hopefully it'll be an awesome learning experience for them.

Good luck everyone! I hope you get some great placements! :)

Updates...

Well, it's been a little while since I last posted- I figured I need to catch y'all up on what's been going on!

First of all, there's about one day left to enter the Celebration Show! I've seen some fabulous entries, can't wait to judge them. If you run into any problems/bugs, please let me know so we can get them fixed before the deadline!

Also, just wanted to address the photography series. I haven't had the chance to take any photos of my setup, so that's really making me lag behind the schedule I had planned. I promise, there will be something posted on that topic later this week! Bear with me.

One thing that has made my posts very spaced out, is that I've been terribly busy judging photo shows! I offered to help out with an official OMHPS show, and I'm trying to get that done as quick as possible. There's a few other shows that I'm judging too, but don't need to be done as quickly as the official one.

I recently got a new program for my digital art (a huge step up from what I was working with before), so maybe I'll be able to post a few finished pieces soon. Even though it's a steep learning curve, I'm loving it!

Hm, what else...
I have a few fun things planned, customs mostly, plus a collaboration with another blogger. Can't wait to share! 💜

Maybe I can do a fun interactive thing with you guys soon, like a Q&A? Let me know what you think, or if you have any other ideas for posts! :)

Yes, Please!

The April Fools joke did have something at least somewhat truthful!

Shelby, Nokota Breyer Collector Club Gamblers Choice - Glossy bay, flaxen chestnut tobiano pinto, and a grullo appaloosa!

Shelby, a Nokota gamblers choice that will be released later this month! One that matches Bolero really well. The appaloosa is my favorite, but the tobiano is also pretty nice. I might be trying to get one when they're released! The sculpt isn't my favorite, but the colors are just so lovely.

Which one do you like best? Let me know in the comments! 💜

April Fools!

Breyer had an announcement today, as I suspected.

On the Nokota mold! Heh, was right on that too! On the... roached mane version...

Very obviously a joke, especially at the permanent change to the sculpture part. The sneak peek does match up though, so maybe there'll be a release with the normal mane variation? Hard to tell. Maybe we'll have clarification soon.

Well, today was awesome for me. We had a fun thing going on with a lot of the staff on the Crescent Cove Discord server. The majority of the moderators changed their profile to look the same as a certain mod, and the Admins had some name changing going on too. I really enjoyed it, lol!

I'm on the bottom, isn't it helpful to have a dog that looks the exact same as your friend's? ;)

Introduction!

Welcome to my blog! This will be my first post, so I wanted to share a little about me :) I mainly collect Breyers and Stones. 1:9 and 1:...
